FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. How is the cost figured?
The cost is figured using the live weight of the animal. The final weight of the animal will be multiplied by the cost per pound of the animal. For example, if your animal weighs 1200 lbs and the cost is $1.75/lb, your cost will be $2,100.
2. Where will my beef be processed?
We are working with Otteman’s Inc. Meat Processing in Flagler, CO and will deliver your beef to them. If you would like your beef taken to another processing plant, you can make arrangements to pick up your animal and take it there. If we have several people who want to use the same processing plant, we may be able to make arrangements to deliver those animals together.
3. How much is the processing?
Processing varies and is up to the processing company. The cost is based on carcass weight. A full beef is approximately $550-$600.
4. How long does it take to process?
We typically have our beef hang for 2-3 weeks. Then it is cut after that. The hanging time tenderizes the meat. You can request 2 or 3 weeks to fit your preference but it will never hang longer than 3 weeks.
5. How much beef will I get?
Our beef typically dresses out around 60% or better. So if your animal weighs 1200 lbs, you will get approximately 720 lbs of carcass weight. When you figure out all costs it usually computes to about $3.75 to $4.00 per pound. You will get 20-25% steaks, 20-25% roasts, 40-45% ground beef and 10-15% short ribs, stew meat, etc.
6. Can I make payments?
You can make payments from the time you sign your pre-order until the animal is taken to the processing plant. At that time, the payment is due in full by one week after delivery to the processor.
7. Can I pay with a credit card?
Yes, you can use a credit card. There is a 4% charge on all credit card purchases.
8. Do you deliver?
We can deliver your processed beef for a fee. That fee can be negotiated based on miles. Typically the fee is a $50 minimum.
9. Is your beef all natural?
